Can't Stop the Clock

Our Family night last Friday left me feeling pensive. This year has taken busyness to a whole new level and like so many others, I think we've let it get a bit out of hand. Family and ministry responsibilities should be our priority, but they frequently get crowded by all the extras with which we complicate our lives.

I'll admit it--most of the time I get overwhelmed because I don't have the brains to say "no" when I should. But I'm learning! After looking at the summer calendar and cringing, I have decided to use some common sense as I approach the fall schedule. My family is the most important job I have right now, followed closely by the Children's Ministry.

After that, well...I'm going to have to be more reasonable about the number of other things I take on. Since I also now have two part-time jobs for the fall, I'm not going to be stupid(er) and agree to anything more.

There now--I said it. Okay, I only wrote it. But I did it. Now would everyone please remind me of it repeatedly when I am tempted to say "yes" to something else? Thank you...

Call me before you agree to anything else and then you can just tell people, "I'm sorry, I'm not going to be able to do that, because Carrie said 'No'!" :D

Saying NO is a hard thing to do. And is highly criticized by many. But family HAS to be first!! I hate that it is so hard for me to put the people I love at the top of my priorities.
